The forwarding wagon was brought onboard to allow us to cover larger woodlots with longer skidding distances, while helping to maintaining our commitment to using horses. The horses have limitations when it comes to moving wood over long distances. The tractor/forwarder is kept on main trails, while the horses work the logs to the machine. This system allows us to isolate our impact areas, lessen soil disturbance and cover longer distances. The forwarding wagon permits the horses to continue to carry out the more surgical work.
