TBHL will be hosting a discussion with loggers, foresters, landowners, and others to cover the pros and cons of traditional stumpage and percentage pay systems. TBHL's alternative by the thousand payment system will be examined in detail, with a focus on short and long term goals, outcomes, financial ramifications, and impacts on woodlot ecology. Further, we will consider the short and long term ramifications of an industry wide switch to an alternative payment model for loggers, with a particular emphasis on evolving woodlot management goals held by today's Vermont landowners. Participants should expect a walk in our woodlot and discussion to follow. For the discussion, please bring a portable chair of some kind. This event is free and open to the public, pre-registration is required.
